- Tile drain nitrate concentration was reduced by 14% on average.
- The largest reduction was observed on May 1, 2020, with a 24% lower nitrate concentration in the field treated with NutriSphere-NL compared to the untreated field.
Agronomic Performance
Another replicated trial at Morley Farm, Norfolk, evaluated the agronomic performance of NutriSphere-NL. Key findings include:
A 22% increase in soil mineral nitrogen (SMN) with NutriSphere-NL treatment.
A 2.6% increase in average grain yield, with a significant grain weight increase from 74.4 to 75.5 kg/hl.
An increase in nitrogen content in grains, from 1.81g/100g (UAN only) to 1.83g/100g (UAN + NutriSphere-NL).
The trial also measured various efficiency metrics to quantify the benefits of NutriSphere-NL:
Agronomic Efficiency (AE): Increased by 5.4%, indicating more nitrogen harvested per unit applied.
Apparent Recovery Efficiency (ARE): Improved by 11.8%, reflecting enhanced nutrient uptake per unit of nitrogen applied.
Nutrient Utilisation Efficiency (NUE): Demonstrated a combined efficiency increase of 11.8%.
Reducing Soil Nitrates and Suppressing Urease Activity
UAN + NL, has demonstrated a significant reduction in nitrates contained in the soil pore water from 33% to 100%.
